Tiffany Woods
Director of Billing Services
As the second of three children, I’ve always been the child looking for a challenge, personal as well as professional. So of course, when I started considering my career options, it had to be one that would provide me with a great sense of pride, fulfillment of my purpose and provide enough challenge to keep me growing. Hmmmm, Medical Billing, I think I’m in the right field.
My career in the Behavioral Health Billing field started in 2002 with the previous RBHA, ValueOptions. I worked as an Office Billing Assistant for three years at two of the Direct Care Clinics. My responsibilities included front and back office duties as well as reconciliation and preparation of provider billing. During that time, I decided to enhance my skill set as a billing professional by enrolling in the Medical Billing, Insurance and Coding program at Everest College. I absolutely loved it. Between my hands was experience and education; I was now ready to grab life / my career by the horns. Upon completion of the program, I was promoted into the RBHA’s Billing Department as a Billing Specialist II. My responsibilities included data entry of clinic’s billing into RBHA billing system, reconciliation of denied claims, payer account set up within billing system, TPL submission & reconciliation. One year later I was promoted into the Billing Lead position where I worked very closely with the Billing Manager. I assisted with managing the day to day operations of the RBHA billing process and provided leadership support for my billing colleagues. The experience, relationships and knowledge I obtain throughout my employment with the RBHA , helped me transition into the position I hold today.
I was hired with Recovery Innovations, Inc (formerly known as MetaServices) in March of 2006. As the Director of Billing Services I oversee functions related to billing for all seven line’s of business within Recovery Innovations, Inc as well as the five Direct Care Clinic’s for Partners in Recovery (PIR). My first day on the job I remember thinking “wow, what a different atmosphere, the people here are really nice”. Not that they weren’t nice at the RBHA; because they were. It was just a different kind of nice. My current team consists of eight subject matter experts with a wealth of knowledge in the billing industry. Our different levels of expertise complements the department in a way that present new and inventive ways to process and reconcile claims.
Besides keeping very busy professionally, I also stay busy personally. I manage and operate my own Billing Consultant Company, I sit on the board of two nonprofit organizations, I am a full time student and most importantly I am a parent to my 6 year old son, the joy of my life. How do I do all of this you ask? By not having a social life! No seriously, with a lot of support and encouragement from my family and friends.
Working for Recovery Innovations helps me keep life as a whole in perspective. The work we do here is like no other. The love we share for one another and the people we support, is nothing short of special. Recovery Innovations represent my own professional and personal goals; having pride and fulfillment in what we do and challenging ourselves to keep growing.
